However, under certain conditions, PP corrugated sheets may warp or become slightly deformed. Understanding the causes can help users prevent this problem and maintain consistent product performance.
One common cause of warping is uneven temperature. Polypropylene is a thermoplastic material that expands when heated and contracts when cooled. If one side of a PP corrugated sheet is exposed to strong sunlight, heat, or another temperature source while the other side remains relatively cool, uneven thermal expansion can cause the sheet to bend or curl. Long-term exposure to direct sunlight can also affect the flatness of the material.
Improper storage is another important factor. PP corrugated sheets should be stored horizontally on a flat and stable surface with sufficient support. If sheets are stored on an uneven surface, placed vertically without proper support, or subjected to excessive weight on only part of the stack, internal stress may develop and lead to deformation.

Sheet thickness and GSM can also influence resistance to warping. Thinner and lighter sheets generally have less rigidity than thicker or higher-GSM materials. For applications requiring greater flatness and structural stability, selecting an appropriate thickness and GSM is important.
Moisture is generally not a major cause of deformation because polypropylene itself has good water resistance. However, water or moisture trapped between sheets during storage, combined with uneven pressure or temperature, may affect the storage condition and surface appearance.
Processing can also contribute to warping. Cutting, printing, heat forming, welding, or other fabrication processes may introduce localized heat or mechanical stress. Using suitable processing temperatures and allowing the material to stabilize after processing can help reduce deformation.
To minimize warping, PP corrugated sheets should be stored in a dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight and excessive heat. They should also be stacked evenly on a flat surface and protected from uneven pressure. Choosing the correct sheet thickness and GSM for the intended application is equally important.
With proper material selection, processing, and storage, PP corrugated sheets can maintain good flatness and provide reliable performance across a wide range of industrial and commercial applications.
